  • Tasting of Red Wine, nose of black cherry, briar, and allspice, more of the same on the palate, showing it's age, medium body, slightly passed it's prime, tasty, long finish. My #5 of 5.

  • What a shame, this absolute bomb of a wine has gone downhill with time. Whenever I first tasted my supply about 4-5 years ago, I'd say it was a 94 pointer; it had everything. Over the last couple of years, it showed signs of slipping, but now it's completely uneven, the 16.6% alcohol has taken it's toll on the structure. My 81 points was for today, too bad I couldn't type my 94 in.

  • Wild, expansive, rich, brambly fruit that is also surprisingly suave. Sweet with baking spices and some tobacco. Tame tannins and a long but weak dispersed finish. Overall a nice zin that is probably on it's downward slope but still drinking nicely. I guess it's too much to hope for much structure from a zin like this.

  • RASPBERRIES, BLACK CHERRIES AND HINTS OF SPICE AND LICORICE IN THE NOSE AND A FLAVOR TO MATCH. MEDIUM TO LONG FINISH.

  • This was the last of a 6-pack. The first bottle I opened in spring of '03 was mind blowingly good with rich red and black fruit with a wonderful laser like acidity on the finish. The next 4 bottles over the past few years were either disjointed with lots of heat showing on the mid-palate and finish or rather simple and shutdown. This bottle however was just delicious but entirely different from the 1st bottle. This was showing great brambly zinberry fruit and white pepper that was perfectly balanced with a full, rich midpalate and a lengthy finish with nice broad acidity. I saved a glass for day 2 but the wine had declined so I would highly recommend drinking any remaining bottles now.
