  • It should have past its drinking window by many years, still quite dark color and still lively with a nice bouquet of red berries and taste of cherries and chocolate. Medium after taste. A nice surprise, I taught it would have past its prime with many years but it was not the case. A nice experience !

  • Not an overly complex wine. Consumed long after drink window but tasted raspberry and chocolate. Solid but unspectacular.

  • from Paso Robles, 13.5% alcohol, appears to be composite cork, heavy foil, medium to long legs; a surprisingly light red/brown color, nose of fruit, especially cherries, and alcohol; vinturied and left open for about 30 minutes before tasting at ca 18 degrees C; although we had intended to open this wine at least 5 years ago, the extra aging has done no harm; still, if you have this vintage, drink it now; an excellent wine, considering its modest price, full-bodied, fruit-forward, moderately complex, with a nice balance of muted tannins & fruit; would pair better with hard & soft cheeses, rather than with meat; not a big cab, a beguiling cab

  • I can’t believe I am giving this a high rating. Traditionally, this has not been one of my favorite Cabs, but always decent for the discounted price. Since we are trying to go through our old wines and cull them out, I opened the bottle expecting to find it was ready to pour out. Imagine my surprise when it looked good and tasted even better. I do not know what happened to the wine, since this is one that has never been stored properly at our Fla home over the years, but everything came together. The color was a dark purple with no bricking and it had no “heat jam”. There was dark cherry, mocha, and plum on the nose. It was medium/full bodied and the palate still had tannins, cherry, chocolate, plum, and a little coffee. The finish was medium with dark cherry and spice. This did not taste like I remember my last J Lohr (mid 80 pts).
