Barnyard. Completely. It didn't die off. The acidity did (after about an hour of decanting). Poured deep dark ruby red into the glass. Not hazy, no oversedimentation. This is the clear definition of funk. Tasted like someone scraped up the manure and bottled it up. On the funk scale of 1-10 this one gets an 11. This covered up any herbal, tobacco, leather, dark fruit, licorice or anything else that this wine COULD have had. This one was manure in a bottle. This wine was decanted for about 70 minutes before the first try. I have no doubt the bottle was still good. I'll try some barnyard, some funk, even moderately so. I'm glad I only spent 17 bucks on this one or else I'd be fuming mad. Won't be buying it again.

Medium ruby color leads to a nose of faint green pepper, cherry, and chalk. Medium body has red fruit with a bit of bell pepper and tartness. Very nice acidity on finish. Much better on day 2, will wait a year before pulling cork on next bottle.
