Pale garnet core, wide orangey rim. Bouquet of pure, elegant and ripe strawbery fruit, attractively sweet with hints of smoke, spice and game developing in the glass. Light/medium bodied, with the same lovely pure strawberry fruit on the palate. Not overly intense, but elegant, poised and precise, with crisp acidity and soft tannins and some attractive savoury and spicy notes on a good length finish. This really is my kind of burgundy and it's in great form right now.

Drunk with previous night's Chambertin '97 fresh in the memory, this was clearly from the same stable, but far less concentrated - smooth, mellow, delicious, but lacking the excitement of the grander wine

(Domaine Armand Rousseau Père et Fils Charmes-Chambertin) Bricking light red color with clear meniscus; charming, tart cherry, dried cherry, tart strawberry and baked strawberry nose; silky textured, mature, tart strawberry, baked strawberry palate, with balance; medium-plus finish

Was still drinking very well. Not a huge wine, but elegant and reasonably mature. Drink now.

Not bad, but noticeably disjointed in comparison to the Ponsot, with a wincing bitterness. Half-glass, then dumped.
