Quite smokey on the nose with savory, red fruit, and tobacco notes. Good balance with integrated tannins, pepper notes, cherries, and violets on the palate. Good finish. Quite good and structured wine that probably won't improve anymore but will keep drinking well for some time.

The Arbour with Your Highness: Bryan keeps casually opening these, which makes me wonder if his Jasmin collection is as deep as Ryan's!
Meaty, wild, and fully resolved with wonderful spices. Much more delicate than the deeper and bolder 1985 we had two months ago. I continue to be sentimental about the 1994 vintage, so I adored this wine. Even without the vintage bias, I'd certainly disagree with some of the low marks here.

Cote Rotie tasting at Daniel’s. Past its prime and too old for some, but I still enjoyed very much. Light garnet, slightly opaque. Light red berry with wood, pepper and bacon. Palate carried by acidity but not off balance; light red fruit is still there. Decent finish. Previous bottle showed better.

Mid raspberry to garnet. White pepper initially on the nose, opening up and softening to raspberry fruit with a touch of pepper and a touch of meat, though this fades with air. Raspberry fruit, bright acidity, positive through to the medium long finish. Quite a bit of fine sediment here - needs gentle handling towards the finish. Good. Enjoyable and good with a cote de boeuf. Structure is built on it's acidity now. ****

Cote Rotie & Condrieu (Elystan Street, London): Magnum. Nicely mature. A touch vegetal on the nose. Old school but none the worse for that. Again a little warm. ***1/2
