  • Tastes blind. Alcoholic, dusty and overwhelmed by toasted American oak. One dimensional.

  • This is a benchmark wine for the new producers in Rioja. In the glass there was a Pigeon's Blood Ruby core with very slight bricking at the rim. With scents of herbs, thyme, earth, granite, and a melange of red and dark fruits that ebbed and flowed across the palate like a tide rising to meet the beach. Absolutely stunning wine...

  • Bought this bottle at the Bodega a few days ago. Since it was aged in their cellar for the requisite amount of time it now has the "Gran Reserva" label, although we were told it is not a separate bottling. It has a garnet edge with a deep black center. Complex nose of black cherry, leather, tobacco, meat, spice and a touch of balsam. On the palate it is smooth with wonderful balance, medium bodied with a long savory finish. Excellent stuff for what is taken as a 'lesser' vintage.
