  • 02 was just a great vintage, along with the acidity and American oak this wine was showing mostly secondary fruits but was far from falling away. Great value wine from a great year!!

  • Aussie Shiraz (Waterford Wines Milwaukee): blackberry and stoney on the nose. big lavender palate and mineral driven. it has the acidity.

  • Wild and fun herbage. The most agressive of the aussie shiraz I have had today in terms of acid. Nick says kinda a stony, black fruited minerality and I would have to agree with that.

  • Dark red in colour with slight tinge of purple on the edges. Smell was overly alcoholic initially then with some earthy and savoury aromas. Not a great mouthfeel - felt thin and uninteresting, with herbaceous taste and some oaky tannins. 2nd glass the acidity became unbalanced and left a tart aftertaste.

  • Not decanted. Tasted over 1.5 hours
Dark purple in colour, not as dense as many Aussie Shirazes.
Nose: First 10 minutes, right out of the bottle -- big, expressive, huge primary fruit and pleasant oak, even smells purple; with time and air developed some notes of roses and cherries (20 minutes), and then evolved to animals and earth (60 minutes) while still retaining a lot of the floral and fruity aromas. Palate: Big, primary fruitiness to start, with some smoky and floral character; seemed reasonably well balanced, with good acidity, moderately high alcohol (14%), and smooth/supple tannins. After 30 minutes of so, the acidity became sharp and stuck out like a wine that has been acidified. Started off really well with a lot pomp and promise, but developed poorly in the glass. Would have rated it much higher in a slam-bang tasting, but not a great wine in the end.
