The nose showed vanilla toast with blue and brambly fruit. On the palate, it showed a sweet medium body with blackberry jam, chocolate and cinnamon. The finish is fresh with lingering chocolaty fruit. It reminds my quite a bit of the chocolate and fruit flavored yogurts that I ate as a child. This is a nice bottle if you’re looking to kick back and enjoy a ripe Zinfandel without having to think about it too much.

Nose was noticible when uncorked, after running through the Venturi it was booming with dry black cherries, powerful but enjoyabe. However, the aroma belies the palate. On the tongue, it is smooth and mildly tannic, full of black cherries and very mild cedar. Finish is very short, unfortunately, with a spicy herbaceous hint.

Good. A drinkable Zin. Blackberries, bramble, cola and oaky vanilla with a moderate finish. <Wow/Very Good/Good/Fair/Plonk>

A totally serviceable Zin. Brambleberries on the nose, then strawberry and chocolate in the mouth. Shorter finish than I'd expect.

ZAP 2011 20th Annual Grand Tasting; 1/29/2011-1/31/2011 (San Francisco, Fort Mason): No notes other than the whole "year old" lineup was not impressive. Seems like too much marketing and too little winemaking.
