This wine is a budget price fan favorite for my wife and I. This bottle was not as exceptional as others that I've had from this year, but I did buy it from a supermarket in Panama (I know to snatch the 2001 bottling). There is something special with 2001 and this label, so if you find it, go for it. Recommended.

Centine 2001 “This trattoria wine has it going on. The nose offers bacon and smoke at first, and then lots of red berry fruit and a bit of light wood. Snappy red fruit dominates the palate, while the zesty finish is lean and tight, with freshness and length. Great for pastas and pizza.” Best Buy 87

“The Sangiovese shows itself in the slightly rustic dry cherry edge to the flavour but this is neatly balanced by the sweeter Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. It’s an enjoyable wine, very much showing its Italian-ness. . .” * * *

Very bland, some fruit left, but fading. Not a complex wine. Drink with dinner, not a sipping wine.

Quite a chunky mouthful after being open for a while but fruity.

Nice full aroma and light, bright fruity taste. It opened up a bit in the glass and then tasted a little more oaky and grown up.
