  • I don’t think I’ve ever had an Avaux wine before (though on maps it isn’t a small vineyard). This was actually quite nice- red and black cherries, beets, a touch of smoke and cocoa. Medium to bodied, vibrant acids, nice balance. Drinking quite well. B+/A-

  • This wine is starting to reveal itself after an hour of the bottle being open - no decant. Translucent brick red, short legs. Watermelon rind, underripe cherry, aged leather. Bright acidity on the short finish. Very nice

  • Ruby color with pale edges. Red cherries and floral overtones on the nose. On the palate, ripe sweet strawberries, some minerality and pleasant acidity. The texture was a little thin, but overall the wine had good balance. The wine has held up well, but it may be time to drink up.

  • The nose shows maraschino cherry, framboise, and then hints of iron, rust. This is lambent but a bit punchy, similar to a Pommard to me, appears to show the same terroir as some Rugiens I've had, iron-rich, but not as muscular. I like the vibrant red fruit here--red cherry and sweet-tart raspberry. There is good, but not outstanding depth, and mineriality as well. This seemed to me to be on the young side yet, and there is enough acidity for it to hold out for quite a bit, but this is not one for the deep cellar, at least to me.

  • Light ruby, tounch of Brick. Loads of Cherry nose. Medium body, strawberry, cherry, soft tannins. Three more years?
