Color is ruby to garnet. Soft nose of leather and game, earth and mushroom, some pine, bush. First impression on the palate very soft velvet and very pronounced acidity. Same earthy, mushroomy feeling on the palate. Aftertaste of raspberry and umeboshi plum and residual sweetness, pretty long.
This pinot is definitely on the lighter side of the spectrum in Burdundy as typical of Beaune I imagine, at times gives the impression of being a bit watery but very much supported by the length and acidity. Ready to go, but frankly with all the acidity left it has more fuel to last for more years, also the color suggests that the wine can still be cellarred for a while although I do not think it will improve, it will coast at this stage for a while. I think that scores from previous tasters (most of them from a few years back) are way to harsh for this wine, which now drinks exceptionally well.

Well, terroir exists. The Axaux reminds me of a West Coast Pinot. The nose seems identical. It drinks fine, but to my taste this is partial burgundy. It is totally sound, but not my style. Give me Teurons anyday.

Needed a few hours to open up and improved quite a bit. Still on the young side, packed with strawberry, plum, and ripe red fruit, along with soil, mineral, clay, with great mid palate and finish. At 10 years old this is fine to drink but can go longer for sure. 90+

Big change since my last bottle. This seems to have entered a really good stage. Dark fruits, Forrest floor, plums. Firm tannins that are in balance.
