This was a Caldwell Vineyard wine made by Randy Dunn. During these years Pahlmeyer only made Chard in exceptional vintages this being the very first Chardonnay made by this producer. I will start this note by saying that this wine was poorly cellared for a number of years so I was not expecting much.
Opened 9:35pm: Deep golden yellow color, on the nose very musty but can still detect notes of honey and melon . Nose of sweeter desert wine also picking up notes of butterscotch. In the mouth still viscous and mouthcoating little acidity but still detect some citrus flavors. Lingering notes of pineapple in the finish, which still lasts for 30+ seconds. Overall still exhibits characteristics of a Chardonnay, but long past its prime. However it is impressive to see a poorly cellared wine 20 years old from a renound producer do so well.
10:15pm: Fruit is all but gone leaving acidic flavors. A short lived treat has been put to rest.

FRESH BUTTERY LEMON AROMA WITH GRAPEFRUIT AND BUTTERSCOTCH IN THE FLAVOR. NOTE: 2ND GLASS WAS QUITE CLOUDY BUT DIDN'T AFFECT FLAVOR SHORT TO MEDIUM FINISH.
