WHUDOCK nailed the notes and score. I got notes of black cherry, spice, and a hint of secondary or tertiary flavors. Loved this bottle. Opened as part of a big event my lone bottle purchased 13 years ago on release.

This one was served pop and pour. I have two separate opinions about this wine. The first is that it was a very good pop and pour. Candied apples, Bramley red fruit, red cola, black cherry, red licorice, really youthful and vibrant notes up front. The middle and finish turned a little bit darker, and finished with more of a black licorice and black fruit with black pepper personality than the red fruited wine It started out as being. However, after a couple of hours, the structure of this wine just sort of fell apart. I really think this is a RATHER good PNP wine, but I expect this to improve 0% in bottle and suggests to me that this is starting to make the descent into starting to develop tertiary notes pretty soon. About 90% of the bottle was gone before dinner ended, so the other 10% is what I have to base this claim on. I'd say it's time to open these if you have not already. No decant necessary at this point.

drinking beautifully. Softer, well-balanced, nuanced.

well refined tannin, some earth and mushroom. Good fruit. Needs an hour to open up.

still young, although drinking well as a powerful California Cab. Good fruit, lots of well-refined tannin, meat and leather.
