  • Surprisingly tropical, along with that classic Batard-Montrachet lushness. Very open and ripe, but also a dense wine. Nose shows pineapple and some ripe stone fruit. Similar on the palate, with perhaps a touch of still unresolved oak. Wine showed exactly the same the second day. No hurry to drink this quickly, and perhaps the tropical character might soften with more time.

  • Extremely reticent to give anything good. Mineral oil, some light Meyer lemon on the nose. Very thick on the front, but competing oak notes and mineral bite dominated any fruit or flesh. Elements felt layered on top of a core which was simply lost. Slight improvement at about 2hrs with a bit of bitter melon and citrus, but a short window. Fell down to a shrill end. Just not Grand Cru material underneath the make-up.
