With a Lafon Vire Clesse at a restaurant. Three of us had fish, the fourth had chicken; both wines paired wonderfully. This was drinking smoothly right out of the bottle, and changed as is took on air, gaining some oomph without losing any elegance. All in all, a terrific wine night.

The Hong Kong wine crawl (Hong Kong): Bought from a local bar, we drank this outside on the street at a 35 degree incline - a typical HK scene. This was very pleasant and, although no great body or depth, it had nice balance and lovely acidity to complement the fruit. Everyone enjoyed this.

Domaine Faiveley tasting with Erwan Faiveley: More than twice the price of the Bourgogne Rouge, I am not sure of the qpr here. but I like this wine. It is a great example of the earthiness and firmly framed wines of gevrey-chambertin. More tannic structures than most of the other 2007s who tend more towards a silky feminine style. Cassis and cherries. Very strong beet flavors.

Strawberries, a little redcurrant. Elegant, nicely balanced.

Deep earth, forest floor, plum and sour cherry on the nose. Very Gevrey. Medium finish. Nice, but not spectacular.
