Mike G and Berto visit Cleveland (Italian wines)+ (Willoughby, Ohio): This was one of those wines that over delivered on my expectations. Maybe I gave it the benefit of the doubt in scoring, but why not. First, my wife really liked it, and second, it gave everything one could expect. The nose is pretty classic with cherries, dried cherries, slight roses and even a whiff of tar. Slight tannins. Medium bodied. On the the palate, there is nice juicy cherry fruit here. Good backbone of acidity. Slightly sweet. Nice finish. At 9 years from vintage, I would drink up sooner than later.

Toast for Hugo before NYC marathon (at Chanoch Reichenberg): classic Barbaresco character requires at least 2-3 hours of decanting before reaching its optimal at this young age transparent medium brown-purple earthy-floral aroma, light fruits with spice hint medium bodied, grip tannins of a very young wine, very tight, high acidity, mellows with time, good harmony, medium complexity. Overall a good wine requires further ageing.

Somewhat disappointed with this wine, drinkable but unremarkable. Certainly would not buy this again.
