  • Definite MSR profile with a slight "zing" to it. The color was more golden than I've had before in a German Riesling and this was my first Qba level Riesling. I can't speak for the quality compared to other Qba, but for the price it compares equally or better than many other Kabinetts I've tried. One of only two Qba's I purchased (Dr. M Prum being the other).

  • This Mosel Saar Ruher wine was brought to Otis house on Saturday by R2D2. WS rated it 90 points and it retails for about $10. This wine had 10% alcohol. QbA is the quality level below Kabinett wines. Many good QbA's were made in 2001 because of the excellent growing conditions which allowed full ripeness in the grapes. As a result, many wines were declassified and downgraded (kabinett level fruit was sold as a QbA wine). The main difference between QbA and Kabinett is that growers are allowed to chapitalize QbA wines but not Kabinett level or higher. This wine had a clear straw color. It was sweet with some interesting minerality. Very pleasing and refreshing medium bodied wine with simple notes of pear and apple. A little spritziness to it. 88-89 points
