  • Tasted next to a 2007 Pietranera. No comparison!! The age and vintage of the Fuligni made it absolutely bold complex smooth and stunning. Really a perfect Earthly Brunello that was delightfully surprising.

  • Frankly, this is a very elegant wine that's unfortunately marred by too much French oak. It's not bad, and it's actually enjoyable to drink, but the wine's character struggles to overcome the very assertive characteristics of the Allier tonneau.

  • This wine seems to be in a quite awkward phase. It's lost its primary fruit but still has the aggressive tannic structure. After a few hours of air, the wine did open up a little revealing beautiful nose of fruit and floral notes. Hopefully as the wine matures, the structure will relax and some secondary characteristics will develop. Perhaps in 10 years this will taste like the '85 Brunelli do now. Based on my experience with the '85's and '90's, I'd advise holding for 5 to 10 years, which would mean drink 2013-2018.

  • My last bottle of this. I always hate drinking the last bottle of something, especially this wine which has been a special wine for me from the beginning. When I just got into wine 'collecting', this was my first BIG score @ $20 per bottle. This was the wine I brought to my first offline where I met some wonderful people, including now friends Hunter and pyang. I also brought this to the 1st Philly Brunello Offline where I met some more wonderful people, and now friends: PurpleHaze, futronic, Dan Fulton and Steve8. I was going to save this bottle for a time when I could get together with a majority of everyone, but it is good I opened it now. Ruby/maroon in color. Notes of earth, raisin, and rubber/tar. This didn't have all the magical flowers and red fruit flavors that made it so complex the past few times I've had it. Not disappointing, because the previous bottles were so good, I just hoped for one more "WOW"... unfortunately, it didn't deliver. Still, this will always be one of, if not my favorite wines of all time... not just for the wine, but for the memories. 87-89 points.

  • Medium garnet colour. Aromas of cherry, violets, leather, strawberry. Full-bodied, beautiful wine, with strawberry, spice, cherry, and earth. Moderate-long finish, 30-35s. 93+ points.
