Notes from Linden Dinner at Planet Wine in Alexandria: Medium gold in color. Nose of toasted hazelnut, citrus peel, funk, and herb. Palate of a little white grapefruit, hazelnut, herbs, and some more of the funky minerality. The finish was a little above average in length, but this was paired perfectly with a pork belly dish. My second experience with this wine and this time around I enjoyed it much more. WOTN easily.

First ever Linden Vineyard library wine vertical tasting: The 1997 Chardonnay was an early experiment blended 50% from the Hardscrabble and 50% from the Flint Hill vineyards with lots of new oak used in its production. Deep golden yellow in color, it has the aroma of baked apple and melon with a hint of grapefruit. The flavor is dominated by citrus with a sweet honey nectar overtone. The mouth feel is fat but with a nice fruit and acidity balance, though a little too buttery from all the new oak. Jim notes it is on a plateau now and it is likely time to drink up before it starts declining.

Linden Vintage Dinner 2009; 8/1/2009-8/30/2009 (Marriott Ranch): Linden Library dinner. Older apple, little butter, herb, and starchy funk on the nose. On the palate butter, lemon, a little starch, older apples.
