nice french style black cherry; significant acidity and some tartness/earth; medium bodied; some herbal tannins should lessen with further time; nice with bbq ahi on tuna sandwich

This one came with good word of mouth. Red in color, with some bricking on the edges, very cloudy, lots of sediment. Nice nose of cherry, allspice and sous-bois, maybe a little cinnamon. Cherry cola and sous-bois on the palate. Strong acidity at first, later subsiding. A little bit of oak, but never obtrusive. Very tasty and the sous-bois was a pleasant surprise (should it be forest floor for a Calipinot?) Alcohol listed at 14.2%, which is moderate for a Calipinot. I wonder if I had a pristine bottle. Between the bricking, the sediment and the streaked cork, I have some doubts.
