I'm a fan of this wine. It demonstrates what Virginia can do with cabernet franc. Lots of sweet tobacco leaf, earth, and smoke on the nose lead to a lush palate that has bright acidity. Caramel and rosehips... Long finish. This is a spectacular wine.

Virginia Wine Country; 11/5/2010-11/6/2010: Blackberry, black cherry, coffee nose with a touch of toasted herbs and barnyard. Medium-full bodied dark fruit and earthy palate with moderate-plus acidity and velvety tannins. Very nice.

Really, really nice. Worked great with food! Doing this from memory, so I don't have extreme details, but I remember that time I said that it was 91 points. Sticking with it. Nice balance all around, semi-long finish. Relatively thin, but not in a bad way. I was expecting it to be a bit more viscous, as it's the reserve and spent some more time in the barrel. I'd buy again, if I could find a sale.

This wine surprised a lot of people. Nobody could believe it was a) this good b) from Virginia. Really an impressive effort at the price point.

Outstanding wine! Smooth and velvety with spice, fruit, and a perfectly balanced acidity.
