Drank alongside a 2012 Chappellet from Napa and this won. Also in magnum - initially a little muted on the nose but gained complexity with a little air. Soft and sweet on the nose - not very pronounced but with current and plum with some brush and wood notes. Palate was soft and smooth with resolved tannins, juicy currant and plum fruit and a really long fine dry finish. Drinking about perfect, would be drinking up if I had any more.

Decanted for 30 mins. Nose of blueberry pie, cassis, violets, a bit of dark chocolate and some cedar cigar box notes. Really great aromas. Palate showed notes of cassis, ripe black cherry, a touch of graphite/pencil shaving, bitter dark chocolate and just the right amount of toasty oak to frame everything together. Medium+ acid and tannin. Long finish. Very youthful still. Absolutely fantastic bottle of cabernet that is drinking fantastic right now but should continue to show well for a while.

Open for 1 hour then decant for another. Took 3+ hours to blow off the alcohol on the attack. Cocoa with a long finish once it comes around. Lots of sediment

(Betz Family Winery Pere de Famille Columbia Valley) Dark and brilliant in color. An alluring nose with high-toned toasty oak, sweet spices, and dark, penetrating fruit. On the palate, a tight core of black fruit along with silky oak wrapped around elegantly structured tannins. A perfect mixture of power and elegance. A long, evolving finish. 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 8% Merlot, 7% Petit Verdot. Fruit is 74% Red Mountain, 17% Horse Heaven Hills, and 9% Yakima Valley (Ciel du Cheval, Kiona, Klipsun, Alder Ridge, and Red Willow vineyards). Aged 17 months in French barriques (70% new). 14.7% alcohol. Give 3-4 years.

Not much nose left. At the end of its run, drink now. Finesse in the opening with a quick mid and a pretty long finish.
