Jam and camphor nose. Flavors of raspberry all-fruit jam, and cranberry juice cocktail. Silky smooth texture. Hint of smoke and cherry cola on the finish, with satiny tannins. Sweetness of the fruit could use more of a tannin bite to balance, and I am thinking that was exactly the situarion a few years ago.

Decanted then returned to the bottle, consumed half after 12 hours then finished the following evening. The wine actually showed better on night one with its most appealing feature being a silky texture. Personally, I prefer Syrah in the darker fruit zone, and this version was the cranberry / pomegranate variety. It was rather light in weight and marred by excessive acid. By day two, the high acid was immediately discernible at the front and was wince producing upon the swallow. Disappointing.

Decanted 1/2 hour for Easter dinner with extended family. The strong acidity from this vintage continues though blows off over time. Dark berries with earth and roasted herbs. Full bodied and strong finish.

Dark purple. Scents of spice and black fruits which carry through to a smooth finish.

Never fails me. Tensley magnums are a great value for what they are and very consistent.
