  • Clear light medium red. Elegant warm earth, cassis, dried tomato and coffee bean nose. Obviously from Oz but in a very well behaved manner. Tasty savory flavours like tomato, herb and black cherry. A bit dried out on the finish.

    A stellar old Aussie.

  • Purchased at 'Q Dining' which is in the Pullman Hotel on Circular Quay and seems to be affiliated with Henschke winery. Awesome example of how good mature Aussie wine can be when given the correct treatment in the first place.

Only criticism is that the nose was not quite delivered on the palate but a wonderful wine to savour over a fantastic meal...

  • Wine is still holding a good red hue in the glass, but browning on the edges, the nose is starting to fade and shows old leather, cedar and some nice savoury plum characters. The palate has wonderful aged flavours of cigar box, rich stewed black currant and subtle spice. There is an excellent mouth feel and soft well rounded tannins that lead to a savoury finish with good length. This is a great aged wine, from an equally great vintage, however i would suggest to drink over the next year or two before it becomes a little one dimensional.
