  • Took about an hour to open up. Smells woody like a fresh tree being chopped. Dark fruits on the nose with a hint of sweetness. Still has plenty of fruit and could survive awhile longer.

  • Dark fruit, acorns, decaying forest floor, grape jam, farm smells. Very good acid and tannins.

  • Decanted over night. Medium ruby color. Raisin on the nose, touch of band aid.

Tasted same as smell--initial fruit followed by immediate punch of tannin and band aid.

Certainly expected more. 1.5L gift--if no improvements will opt for a different bottle to accompany dinner tomorrow.

  • Dark ruby in color with a short reddish rim. Not showing much age.

Nice nose of black currants, blackberries, wood, vanilla, chocolates, vinaigrette, graphite, leather, earth, wet leaves, vegetables, dark coffee, herbs, tobacco leaf and black pepper.

Full bodied and bold with medium plus acidity and long legs.

Dry on the palate with cherries, sweet raspberries, currants, cedar, earth, vanilla, licorice, spices, chocolates, tobacco, vegetables, vinaigrette, bitter herbs and peppercorn.

Long finish with round tannins and tangy cranberries.

This Bordeaux blend from Napa Valley is interesting and tasty. Showing great complexity and mouthfeel.

This 12 year old is good right out of the bottle and better as it opens up and shows some tannins (90 minutes).

Reminds me of a 20 year old Right Bank Bordeaux.

    Wine Enthusiasts 90 points.

The high alcohol is very nicely integrated by now, so watch out.

A blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Cabernet Franc. Organic.

    14.7% alcohol by volume.

    91 points.

    $75 (current vintage).

  • This was a surprisingly youthful yet enjoyable Cabernet. Medium (+) to deep ruby with some purple hues. Ripe black fruit, and some subtle oak spice on the nose. The palate is dry, with medium acidity, medium (+) tannins and medium (+) alcohol. After ten years, this wine still has a fairly tight structure and could definitely spend several more years in the cellar. It is definitely a steak wine, not a sipping wine, and will please fans of a more restrained, Old World style of winemaking.
