Pleasantly surprised: this is a more serious wine than I had anticipated. Still wrapped tightly around a core of black fruit. Tannins have not resolved but they are fine grained. This just needs more time to express more of the rose and violet poking through the nose. The structure is there and I think this will reward a bit more patience.

We had this with a celebratory dinner at Cinchiale in Baltimore. The wine arrived a bit chilled and opened up with time at the table. The initial flavor sense was underwhelming, but maybe my expectations were too high. The nose is mild with a slightly rose-like sense. The taste was tar with a mild bit of chocolate. There was a pleasant lingering aftertaste that was faintly rose tinged. This paired well, but not as outstandingly as I'd hoped with prosciuto, tuna and with spaghetti with lobster. The wine-searcher lists this as $42/bottle, so I would have to say it was disappointing for the price, but enjoyable at the setting.
