Not too excited to write about this wine. Maybe it was the the fact I opened it up in 103 heat, however I did give it a quick chill before corking. Overall my impressions were that of an ordinary Zinfandel---it never coaxed me to believe that these vines were over 100 years old. The traditional jammy characteristics of so many other California Zins barely came through on the palette with this 2007 Sausal Century Vines. Sorry to say but it tasted more like a watered down Merlot to me. I wish I would have purchased a second bottle from the winery when I visited back in 2010 so I could open it up under more "normal circumstances". Oh well.

this one's tough bc we had this for over a year and it came out of the bottle really tight to the point we thought it might be bad. it opened up a bit over a couple hrs, but was justy not one I really liked. I fear we held on to it for too long and missed it's peak.

Peaking if not bit past. Color is fading into tawny brown. Still has good structure but tannins have faded.

Initially out of the bottle, this was an interesting wine but faded after an hour in the decanter.
