  • Had this at a barbeque July 4th weekend...great aromas of black currants, blackberries and it pretty much followed up on the palate the same way with some smokiness added to it. Not as much complexity of fruit as I figured, but still nice wine from this region nonetheless.

  • I bought this because of my excellent experience with the 2006. This one was not so drinkable though, a bit rough, so it sat in the glass in the fridge for a week or so. The bottle also sat undrunk but corked up. Finally it became enjoyable. then I mixed a splash or so with an elegant but somewhat limited Chateau Lagrange 2006. That was a great combination! The St Julien had the smoothness and the Pessac Leognan added the flavor. But pricy to do since the Haut Vigneau was around $20 and the Lagrange about $50. And I shouldn't like to wait week every time.

  • It's simple, honest wine, with some recognizable character of Pessac-Léognan-s. Nevertheless qualifying it, as written on the label, "Grand Vin de Graves" is more marketing than a fair claim.
Been quite young, it is well possible that it improves and evolves into a more classy wine, but I am dobt about that. I tend to see it as an excellent bbq wine. As it cost around 15€, although a good wine and belonging to a prestigious appelation d'origine, I do not recommend it.

  • Clear dark ruby core of moderate intensive - youthful bdx. Moderately intense nose of dense dark plum with noted alcohol, oak and cedar - it feels young. Dry but soft on the palate with moderate acid, some alcohol and mid body - lots of fruit and drinking well now. The finish is shortcuts with some spice and a tough of heat from the alcohol. Good. Drink soon.
