Vindredi (Barcode (Bellevue, WA)): Smoky and a little funky on the nose, it was overpowering the fruit. More interesting on the palate, with chalky minerals, mandarin orange, and dry acidity.

Showing both class, & a little clumsiness. Big Bosc pear, peach, & hint of bruised peach. Drinks rich, fat & off-dry. Not a bad wine by any means, but the little bit of (not 100% pure/clean) Botrytis, along with low-ish acidity, & high residual sugar (for a Trocken wine) give a style that is not the most synergistic for a "dry" Rheingau from this Grand Cru Vineyard. Far from the only Riesling that suffered from some % not totally "noble" rot in '06. (88+)

Very ripe, peachy fruit, minerals and spices, wax and petrol already but does not seem to have the structural weakness of certain other 2006 Rheingau dry whites.

Monthly tasting club "The Tasting Club"; German Riesling Großes Gewächs (@ My place): The bouquet is still a bit reticent, but it shows beautiful honey. In the mouth it is a mouth full; tropical yellow fruits with dominating pineapple, minerals and tart grapefruit. Full bodied wine. 91+
