{screwcap, 14%} A little development is eveident here; more on the palate than the nose. Aromas are cherry, strawberry, minimal oak - more of a seasoning. It's all very pinot-flavoured; a touch smoky, with that new-world-fruity mix of tart fruits and cured meats. In this case, at fours years old, the tannins are barely present, acid nicely balanced, but there's just a little too much warmth (from the alcohol I presume) which gives the wine a slightly hollow feel. Overall, it's a decent medium-bodied pinot of moderate length that's close to peak now.

{screwcap, 14%} Brickish sort of colour. Reserved nose (although a little cold - around 12C) consistent with its palate of black cherries and smoky but fairly sublte oak. Light-medium body, fairly straightforward overall with light chalky tannins and a short-medium length finish. Decent pinot tending towards the simple side a bit. Should hold another 3-5 years quite happily; the acid doesn't feel too artificial and the alcohol doesn't stick out either. Decent.

Taste of Tasmania 09/10 (Hobart): {screwcap, 14%, A$30} Classic pinot cherry aromas, but laced with meaty delicatessen notes. The palate follows this up with gentle oak, medium bodied weight, and lovely balance of components along the tongue. Medium length finish, but it all hangs together, adding up to greater than the sum of its parts. For this quality, very well priced.

Very middle of the road Pinot. Red cherry nose with touch of minerals. The tannins are resolved. Moderate, balanced finish. (89)

Wine-Ark Cellar Club Tasting 10 - November 2009. Josef Chromy, Giant Steps, Craggy Range (Roof Terrace Australian Museum): Nose: very fruity, rubber, plenty of alcohol heat - almost like surgical spirit - and underlying this something floral
Mouth: A little over-engineered for me, tannin, a little fruit, pepper.
Possibly designed to cellar but a little clumsy and underwhelming for me.
