  • Easy to drink. Typical Swiss red. Could probably stand a few more years in the cellar.

  • Bought it based on the 87 rating on here for another vintage. Unfortunately, this wine turned out to be what I've come to expect of Swiss reds. Very little nose. What does come through is a little unrefined berriness. The palate is simplistic as well -tart tannins with a little hint of pepper. A long, but not very pleasant finish that is somewhere between grapefruit and vinegar. This is a far cry from the above-80 rating that the 2007 got on here. I tend to agree more with the guy who gave this wine a rating in the 50s after long decanting. Will not buy this again.

(Maison Gilliard Dôle des Monts Valais) Bricking light medium garnet red color with pale meniscus; spun sugar, chaptalization, ripe cherry, black cherry, cherries jubilee nose; chaptalized, cherry, black cherry palate with low acidity but a little tart bite on the finish; medium finish (blend of Pinot Noir and Gamay)

(Robert Gilliard Dôle des Monts, Sion) A transparent brick-red with pink highlights. This Dôle’s Pinot Noir component is especially apparent in the lovely aroma of fresh strawberries. Initially light, with a hint of chalk and rosemary, the palate moves into tart red-cherry flavors, followed by refreshing green tannins on the finish. Simple, perhaps a bit rustic, but pleasant.
