  • Brings back memories! Back in the day, these were the "Red Man's" whites...rich and spicy, oak endowed...and full of flavor! Arrowood's Reserve Spéciale was one of best, yet also had a Burgundian touch to the richness that lifted it, and structured with minerality for longevity. At 27 years of age...Dick Arrowood's masterful touch is evident! Still has that rich butterscotch, butter sautéed tropical fruits, toasted marshmallow oak spice, aged exotic white honey, smoky lees...full bodied...smooth and creamy...yet there is a nice cut of citrus, apricot jam freshness that really livens the wine...chalky and spicy crushed minerality shows salinity...no signs of any premature ox, or any over the hill ox...REALLY aging out in pre 96 Grand Cru form! Spice and florals linger on the finish...waxy texture, some tobacco and hazelnut...just explodes with complexity when it warms in the glass! Just an amazing bottle of aged Sonoma Chard...yes...it can be done!

  • This 1994 is rich with creamy tropical fruit, fig, marshmallow butter oak, butterscotch, spices galore. Nice mix of citrus acid, and creamy fruit/oak. Also has some mineral kick to it, balancing out the creamy richness well. Long intense tobacco, honeyed, floral spice finish.
