The second bottle of the evening, contrasting with the much more full bodied Chateau Branaire 1978. Accompanied Beef Wellington, this wine proved delightful. Past its suggested drinking window, the wine was delightful from start to finish.

Cru quality in a Villages. It's a firm, balanced, stone-driven wine — love that granite! — that's buttressed by beautiful, smoky, herb-laced red fruit that flows quietly but energetically across the palate. The acidity is graceful, the texture is firm but giving, the finish is long and harmonious. Paired well with both a beefy chili and a green salad.
