Still in its prime and has another 3 years before it might begin to fade. Definitely an interesting blend. Still plenty of dark berry fruit, blackberry in particular and soft tannins. I'd pair it with a beef stew or similar mellow beef dish but it's a good drinker on its own.

Blackberries (lots of them) on the nose. More of the same on the palate, along with hints of licorice, smoke, and a little sweetness. A big boy, although the tannins are under control. Plush texture and an absolutely bodacious finish (where it showed significant acidity). Because of the sweetness and the acidity, it should pair reasonably well with a lot of food, but it probably won't be a stellar match with any one dish.

This really IS an interesting wine, one that probably gets a lot of complexity from its composition of beaucoup varietals. Spicy foods were complemented by the sweetness of the zin, and fruity foods were complemented by its structure. Bright and not too heavy, it would be great with just about any food. Still has a lot of life in it, but it's drinking great right now.
