Knockout bottle of Barolo and a great example of why I love Nebbiolo so much. Even with 12 years of age, this is still young and needs a good amount of air. I gave it three hours. Quite dark coloured for the grape. The nose is intoxicating - that gorgeous deep floral aroma. Beautful on the palate - long and lingering fruit. A little tannic and this is perhapes the one element that will need a few more years of bottle age before being right on point. Just picked up a case of the 2010 so can't wait to see how that tastes in a few years.

As of Oct 2018, prevailing tannins contribute to a bitter taste on initial opening. After decanting an hour opened up a bit; after 2 hours was totally delicious. Feels like this wine needs to remain cellared for another 3 - 5 years.

This bottle seemed like it needed lots more time. Decanted and about 1 hr of air. Beautiful nose with classic tar and roses, but loads of red and black fruit too. On the palate, great acidity and loads of pure red fruit. Then, the tannin kicks in on the end, and whoa, very intense...very good, but could do with another 10 years.

Excellent Barolo - great vintage. Red flowers, red berry fruits notes. Balanced, delicate, nice texture and still an excellent level of freshness.

Still a lot of tannins on opening but one hour of decanting smooths the wine nicely
