  • Decanted. Drank after it was open for a couple of hours. Nice secondary nose, with leather spice, and soft, but lush, red cherry notes. Ripe on the palate with ample fruit more spice, and some leathery notes. Soft tannic finish with a juicy acidic spine.. This was very good.

  • Part of 4-wine tasting of Halter Ranch - definitely the most balanced of the reds. Very nice berry and hint of leather and tobacco on nose. Palate was not as lush as the nose would lead you to believe. The berry flavors quickly disperse leaving the ample tannins. They do let the berry and tobacco taste return for decent medium-short finish. Might improve with age, but I really don't see it - not enough mid palate flavors to carry it.

  • Inky purple color. Restrained nose with a little bit of leather. Not a very distinctive wine given the number of components in the blend. Drink now.

  • Good bottle of red wine. Enjoyed more at the tasting. Did not live up to the $40 price, have had better reds costing $15.

  • A blend of 26% Cabernet Franc, 26% Merlot, 22% Malbec, 19% Cabernet Sauvignon, and 7% Syrah. Dark ruby color. Aromas of dark berry fruit. Flavors of blackberry, black cherry, and earth. Chewy tannins. Well balanced. In fact the most balanced of all of the Halter Ranch offerings. Fruit forward finish with some interesting complexity. 18 months in French oak. 15% alcohol. 630 cases produced.
