  • Clear ruby almost out to the edge. Sweet characteristic zin nose. Relatively dry with nice mouth feel/texture and an overall profile reminiscent of what, TannicBeast documented in his notes except that there are other zins for under $35 that are as good/better.

  • Tasted blind from a decanter. Clear, medium ruby fading to garnet on the rim. The nose is clean, of medium plus intensity and shows off sweet spice and baked, ripe fruit. The nose is developing but not really showing any secondary characteristics. The palate is dry, the acidity is medium, the tannins are medium. The alcohol, body, flavor intensity and lengrh are medium plus. The predominant flavors are blackberries, currants, plums and chocolate. The mouthfeel is soft and velvety and overall very pleasant. This is a good to very good wine, which can be drunk now but has the potential for ageing a couple of more years. Immediately recognizeable as a Zinfandel, its complexity and ageworthiness are certainly attributable to the Monte Rosso vineyard. I definitely would pick it up on sale in the $40.00 range, but is overpriced at $50.00 -$ 60.00 IMHO.
