  • Very elegant nose of white flowers, very slightly vanilla, and flint.

Very lively on the palate, it is oily without being greasy, with a magnificent acidity which will guide a juice that is as qualitative as it is dense. The attack is as salty as it is buttery. The wine is very young, which is noteworthy given the period affected by premox. Then the wine unfolds all its facets, with firstly a very well integrated woodiness which becomes one with the wine, white flowers, white fruits and hazelnuts come together in a harmonious way. The juice still has that oily consistency without any greasy feeling. It is complete and balanced. Then comes the finale where the power of the Batard is fully expressed: the wine takes on an enormous scale and increases in power to unfold like a peacock's tail and explode with buttery and flinty aromas before unwinding over a length beautiful floral.

Great Burgundian chardonnay which reconciles me with the know-how of the region.

  • Sensational wine, lean, yellow not gold colour. Possibly early picked this is not a fat batard but a lean style with years in front of it, cork willing.

  • Nose: sesame, white flower, pear, popcorn, vanilla cake, peach, mango
Notes: this is the type of Chardonnay that I love, very rich and intense with a creamy and buttery nose. Drank in a 08-11 vertical and it is quite clear that the 08 is more oily and fat. I liked this the best in the flight perhaps because I felt this was the most ready one. Intense, exciting and quite ready at this moment after breathing for 2 hours. This is still standing okay and should last well beyond this decade for its optimal consumption window.

  • Rich, creamy in texture, smooth with bees wax and minerals; quite the char,er, very open and gentle. I was guessing premier cru level.

  • Blind. Reductive with gunpowder, deep and layered, just wonderful and complex nose; lemon, acid, great intensity and persistence, but overall so very well balanced, light footed and elegant, glorious finish. WOTN
