This is my last bottle of this vintage. Bought it in 1988 for $9.99. Wow! You should be so lucky as to have a wine this good that you paid 10 bucks for! Since I thought this wine might be over the hill, I decanted and poured within 30 minutes of decanting. There was an initial burst of CdP flavors that flattened out fairly quickly. The wine can continue to age; it had yet to show any bricking. Predominant flavors, according to my better half, chocolate and coffee. I think she's got it right, but there was more - cherry and other spicey fruits, and much of the other stuff you expect in a top CdP. This is a plug for cellaring wines in good conditions for a while!

At home at dinner (pizza). Medium ruby color. Has legs. Aromatic, fruity. Smoky. Truly smoky, hickory flavor. Quite varietal. Good varietal character. Fine, but not profound. 5-10-15-7: 87/100.

With Kathy at home at dinner (pizza). Medium red. Attractive. Great legs, looks to have plenty of alcohol. Very fragrant, heady bouquet. Game smells. In the mouth, medium body, silky, elegant texture and mouthfeel. Very rich and deep smoky, gamy fruit flavors. Extremely complex. A winner. Drinking beautifully right now. 5-11-17-8: 91/100.
