Toward the end of a New Year's Eve party. I wasn't taking notes but I remember previous bottles being very good. I do remember that every person at the NYE party thought it was #2 or #3 out of nine Pinots that night (the competition were some very good wines - #1was the Cirq).

Garnet red center with pink rim. Initially, red cherry and red raspberry pop out of the glass with cinnamon, rosemary and sassafras notes for complexity. The palate is a study in purity with red cherry and raspberry blended seamlessly with earthy notes and minerals that really compliment the fruit. This wine comes across as light-bodied and airy but certainly not thin. The acidity is balanced, and the finish is long. Overall, I would drink this every day because it provides pure red fruit, balanced acidity, and a great mouthfeel.

14.5% alcohol. I prefer this to the Santa Lucia bottling. The aromatics are knockout, with pure and delicious black cherry fruit, with a touch of blackberry. Rocking on the palate, with juicy fruit and a nice earthy note. Good kick of acidity. Really great pleasure to be found in this bottle. A-

Very drinkable, light on the palate but bold finish. A little spice but for me relatively simple.
