While a bit pruny, there's plenty of tannin and dark cherry fruit to go around. Spectacular w famed turkey meatloaf. Medium length finish Smoke and something else on the brown burgundy side of palate on which I am unable to put my finger.

Opened for solar plant inauguration, the cork was pristine as this was stored for the past 10+ years. cool, needed to warm up. cherry predominate. Neutral, solid, but without noteworthy recollection. Decent.

This is the 6th bottle I have consumed over the last 6 years and by far this was the best showing. I think there is some bottle variation, but this particular bottle was singing.
Popped and poured a splash into a glass, then left the remaining wine in the bottle for 2 hours. Glorious sweet nose of black fruit, expresso, tobacco and a hint of cocoa. On the palate, very fruit forward, with more fruit present than any of the past bottles. The balance of fruit and acidity was nearly perfect with a seemless texture that begged for another sip. The wine finished with well integrated tannins, with expresso and tobacco notes lingering for about 30 seconds.
In short, this wine is drinking perfect for what it is...an elegant, wonderfully complex Cali cab, with a fruit forward profile that is neither heavy or overly extracted...Laube got this right, although for the 1st 9 years I thought it was over hyped!!

Developing very nicely. Tannins have integrated well and the wine is very well balanced. Not overpowering.

Dallas OL Il Sole (Il Sole, Dallas): Smooth wine that aged gracefully. I had another bottle 3 years ago--I liked that bottle a bit more.
