Vinetasters: Old Cabernet (Park Ridge, IL): Served double blind. Detected a bit of American oak on the nose here. Ripe and sweet, the way a California wine can be. Still has some opulent black cherry/vanilla fruit, but without any bitterness to the oak. Impressive ripeness and depth. My 2nd, group's 3rd.

I thoroughly enjoyed this bottle and feel it is drinking well. I wouldn't say there are many more years. The color is a dark purple/red, it needs to be filtered, has hints of dark fruit and a subtle plum finish balanced with tannin. Good QPR and would not hesitate to bring and open at a dinner.

Mature, dark woody nose with some mint and pickle juice. Bigger, and a bit more advanced on the palate. Lots of dill and darker notes, reminds me of a mid-90s Silver Oak with a cooler fruit profile. Rather angular and with some sour cherry notes on the the abrupt finish. Some significant unresolved tannin. **/5

STG. The nose was not great with green beans and ashtray. The palate showed a lot of bottle sweetness. Overall it was simple and pleasant. It will not improve.

Amazingly fresh and fruity. Stone fruit and berries with a hint of herbal on the finish
