  • Bottle, fill and cork all sound. The wine is dark garnet and reticent at the outset. Like the typical Morot wines of the 80's, this takes patience, the big burgundy glass and proper food and it will reward the traditionalist. Good burg weight and balance. A barded hen with leeks was an appropriate match as the wine slowly unwound with earth, raspberrry, roots, sous bois etc.. Drying on the backend. Not the most complex, but very fine. My understanding is that these Greves vines are a very small parcel and were quite old before being torn up and replaced soon after this vintage. This does not scream old vines although, in the context of the vintage, it is an excellent wine. I like the old Morots - in the 90s, they started to use more oak and they lost their finesse. This wine is of the old school.
