My birth year and not something one sees every day. When a small lot became available at auction I grabbed it.
Color: pale, translucent amber/rose core -> diffuse, garnet/yellow rim. Delicate bouquet of raisins, anisette, a little spice cake and a dusting of nuttiness. Silky texture on the attack showing a little tobacco and raisins. Warm, mellow, feminine and delicate. While still nicely sweet, a bit spirity and with a bit of acid popping through on the reasonably long finish. These should probably be enjoyed sooner vs. later.
Considering this is not one of the "big" houses, and certainly not a big vintage like '55 or '63, I'm quite satisfied with this wine. Lovely for a cold, wet, pre-Wintery night that already feels like Winter in New England.
