  • Cellaring this Chianti paid off. Still plenty of fruit. Found the community "drink by 2008" of interest. The added smoothness was well worth the wait. Last of three bottles. Darn.

  • Decanted 1 hour and tasted over the next two. Very dark color (for Chianti) right to the rim. Savory nose of medicinal herbs, dried flowers, orange peel and fennel--all closely held and not very forthcoming. Firm, bright, tart cherry, cranberry and citrus zest flavors are dry, focused and austere. Not showing much sweetness tonight, this lacks generosity. If it is developing it is doing so at a glacial pace. Time may tell.

  • Decanted about two hours. Quite dark with forest floor, amaro root aromas lead to deeply extracted, ripe flavors of black fruit, dry licorice and medicinal herbs. The fruit is deep but dry. This did not change much over three hours. Drink now-2012

  • This is coming along quite nicely. Very dark color for Sangio, deep, ripe and almost fat. A couple of hours in the decanter and this really starts to sing. Atypical but excellent. Drinkable now with some air but best to wait a couple more years.

  • - Very dark color. Sweet, ripe and concentrated nose of sweet spice, dried flowers, ethereal notes of black fruit and sweet oak.
    - Rich, dry entry with lots of dry extract. Flavors of dried cherries, licorice, cola. Lively acidity.
    - Long, powdery tannins, full, harmonious, complete and still quite young. 2008-2015.
