The Travellers Club, London (The Travellers Club, London): A wine we would have never ordered but the sommelier flagged it as something special and OMG it was one of those great wine moments. A well cellared bottle from release, good level and proper cork. The nose alone is an experience, tertiary, truffle/mushroom feel, light spice and a hazelnut almost undertone. The palate continues along the same path and zero issues with oxidation. We have heard stories of great random bottles like this one and finally we have struck gold. An exceptional wine. 96+

Medium deep gold. Elegant. Smooth and balanced. Medium to full bodied. Long finish. Shy nose revealing a little oak and butter as it sits in glass. Lots of lingering acidity on palate even after 12 years. Makes this more like Grand Cru Chablis when served too cold. Old oak, and vanilla sneak out as it loses its chill.
