Bought this from Butler's Wine Cellar (Brighton) for £20. Golden, cider-vinegar colour with excellent viscosity when pouring the glasses. The quintessential dried-fruit Sauternes aroma immediately permeated throughout the room. However, despite this, the wine felt slightly fatty, lacking definition almost and (much like the 98 de Malle I tasted not long ago) the alcohol was a little too prominent and took over some of the more subtle characteristics of the wine. Nevertheless, this is a well made wine from a great vintage, and over time the caramelised orange peel flavours dominated the palate. ***1/2
