Opened and decanted to give it some air and then had the first taste an hour later. Excellent nose. Color is a tad pale, but showed well tonight. Tart, but with enough fruit to make it interesting. Went well with Coq au Vin.

New Year's Day Pork Shoulder and Grits Supper (San Francisco): Opened last night. Pale red with tawny edge. Both aromas and palate dominated by earth and herbs. High acidity and only a thin veneer of reddish fruit. Not much to it at this point. Is it closed?

Needed a 2 hour decant. Reticent at first. About the time we were finishing the bottle, it had come around showing crunchy red fruits.

Power without weight. Almost clear. Very good. High toned. Not a good match for steak.
