Way better than expected and infinitely better than the bottle last year. Lots of tart red fruit aromas with some crushed rock and mineral elements. The wine then bursts forth with black cherry and currant fruit that fades into raspberry on the finish where bay leaf, lavender, and a touch of spice emerge on the soft and almost 45 second long finish. The tannins are well integrated and this bottle is peaking, but could hold longer too. The last bottle was a bit over the hill, this one was far from it. Excellent wine.

Dark red friuts, smoke, tar, spices on the nose, this wine is still a bit tannic, with black cherry, sour raspberry, blackberry, balsamic, lavender, and meat flavors with a medium long finish where the tannins emerge again. The wine felt a bit tight, I'd wait a few more years to see if the tannins resolve themselves.

With my little understanding of Barbera- I found this one to be very tasty on its own and with some meat and cheeses. I loved the floral and fruit nose on this wine. A very good Barbera IMHO. QPR isn't there and @ $40 it is a tougher sell. But I was happy with this wine.

Slow-O 1 hour, served double-blind over the following 3 hours at a CT offline. This shows some of the shortcomings of the vintage - but that's a good thin. Instead of trying to mask some of the inferior qualities of the vintage, the producer let the wine speak for itself, something I very much appreciated. Not something I would seek out unless it were priced $20-$30. No doubt this is something that could be quite dramatic in a stellar vintage.

The flagship wine of the estate, 65 year-old vines, aged entirely in new barrique. Good complexity on the nose, layers of spice to complement the fruit, no over oak notes. The palate has great concentration and a rounded texture, but with a strong acidic spine underneath. Firm tannins surround a long finish. A very successful modern-style Barbera that needs time. Not worth the $65 tariff though.
