  • So beautiful still. Golden colour (decanted to rid it of a large amount of crystals), with aromas and flavours of marzipan, almonds, marmelade, oriental spice, honey and straw. There's still a floral note to it, as well as some fruit (ripe citrus, tropical fruit). Complex and long. Still going strong at 40. Amazing.

  • UWS 2010-01 (@ JB): Bizarre bouquet with gasoline and rubber. It comes back in the taste together with apricots, honey and polishing wax. Very well balance between sweetness and acidity.

  • Another wonderful bottle, that still tastes as young and lively as the previous ones. Incredible wine.

  • We tried another bottle of the SA Prüm WS Auslese 1976 last weekend to celebate the fact that Joea returned to the Netherlands for a short visit.

Nobody took any notes, so only impressions. Again I was amazed by the youthfulness of this wine; reading back LadyR's notes of the previous bottle, it seems that this one showed even younger. Only slight bitterness (white tea was mentioned) and a beautiful spectrum of fruit, ranging from fresh citrus to lush tropical fruit. Wonderful wine! A joy to drink now, but will certainly last quite a while (judging from the fact that it even gained in body the second day).

  • Deep golden yellow colour, very aromatic and delecate wine that is still relatively fresh and acidic. Beautiful tones of an aged sweet riesling (petrol, thee, straw, nuts) nicely integrated with botrytus, citrus, mineral and bitter tones, like fresh almonds. Awsome wine, perfectly drinkable now.

As this wine was tasted blind, the guys guessed its age somewhere 90-ies.
